On the Christianshavns Kanal, 15 minutes from Copenhagen city centre floats the home of Laust Norgaard and Lisbeth Jull. The cosy 80m2 home is a downsize of their previous houseboat, and with the small footprint was an exercise in restraint.

The owners carefully selected their finishes to create an uncluttered space which would still feel warm. Soft woodgrain texture brings warmth into the interior filled with otherwise hard, flat materials.

The use of plywood provides a connection to the owners’ maritime history and the homes waterside location. Alongside the oceans blues the material selection is fitting and perfectly frames the fantastic views.

Natural clear varnished plywood lines the hallway providing a low maintenance alternative to paint.  Paired with cool white walls the look is clean, breezy and decidedly Scandinavian.

This home is a well balanced combination of nature and contemporary design.
